Weekend_Get_AWAY!

So traveling last weekend was not enough for me therefore myself, Courtney, and Jaclyn decided to travel to Pisa and Florence! Traveling by ourselves with the wisdom of Matt proved to be a little difficult as we did not realize that we had to transfer trains to get to Pisa but we still made it by sprinting to our new platform. (Yes the joke platform 9 3/4 did come up) Also, I ended up mapping our trip on Google Earth a very helpful tool to finding, marking, and remembering places (Matt's wisdom again). On our way we discovered a doll house church actually known as Santa Maria of Spina. After being tourist and geeky about the architecture of the Duomo we hopped on a train to Florence. We quickly made friends at the Ciao Hostel, Andrew from Portland, OR and Helymi from Montreal. They had dinner with us and were our company for the disorientation tour of Florence. Helymi brought our adjustment to walking in Roma to our attention as we freely walked in the streets or dodged cars left and right instead of using the sidewalks like everyone else. It was truly amazing to yet again see the images of my history textbook come to life in front of me but also being able to explain my knowledge to other made me feel a small bit of accomplishment. Part of my check-list; San Miniato Al Monte, Florence Cathedral, Ospedale Degli Innocenti, Santa Maria Novella, David, Michelangelo and many other churches and piazzas.
