Weekend Travels

This last week was marked the half way point of our time in Rome. Its gone by too fast!  We had a great tour of Baroque architecture and were able to explore a new part of Rome where Bernini and Bramante built a few small churches. We had our first big critique for studio, marking the end of a busy and exciting week. My dad was in town so I explored two museums with him in Trastevere and an exhibition of Da Vinci's inventions.

I headed out on Friday to visit my boyfriend who lives in the south of France. Public transportation in Europe is so convenient. It took a few different modes to get there, including the tram, bus, flight and train, but within a matter of hours I was transported into a whole new culture and landscape. The architecture in the Dordogne is primarily medieval; amongst the rolling hills are small villages and an occasional castle jetting from a rocky peak.
I'm back in Rome and ready to dive into this last month. Unfortunately the weather changed while I was gone. I think today is the start of a very hot summer!
