Week Three... Simply Amazing!

Another awesome week has come and gone. We had our first
field trip this week; it started on Friday of last week and end on Monday of
this week. We spent four day outside of Rome traveling and seeing other parts
of Italy, which was a blast. The first day was spent in Paestum, which was
absolutely beautiful. Paestum was initially a Greek colony, so it has some of
the best-preserved Greek style temples outside of Greece. The museum in Paestum
was awesome and had so many amazing artifacts. My favorite being the “tomb of
the diver.” After spending the day in Paestume we traveled to Altrani, where we
spent the reminder of the trip. I fell in love with coastal city and never
wanted to leave. It was simply amazing and unlike anything I have ever seen.
The architecture was amazing and a labyrinth that I was lost in for the
duration of the three days. There were so many fascinating subjects to sketch,
which was a blast. While we were there we got to go to Amalfi and see the
Regatta, take place, which had a photo finish. Amalfi ended up barely edging
head of Venice to get the win, which was very exciting and made the city erupt.
The trip was a lot of fun and very educational. I also got to swim in the
Mediterranean Sea for the first time, which was one of my favorite parts of the
trip. We got back into Rome late Monday night and had a full week of school.
During the week we were privileged enough to have Jeffrey Blanchard give us a
walking tour, which was absolutely fascinating and probably the best walking
tour we have received so far. We ended the week with a trip to Ostia Antica, an
ancient port city of Rome, which was a lot of fun and an amazing way to cap off
the best week of my life.
