Venezia and Firenze for the Weekend

This past weekend was one for the books!! Adriana and I found ourselves in Venezia Friday after sketching, and we quickly started exploring the Romantic little town.  The streets wound around each other and left us lost and unsure of where we would end up next: which was so fun! We would end up at a canal and have to turn around and find a new way, which is not what we are used to at all!! There were a lot of tourists, but we found some cute places to eat that were more secluded.  A highlight of our time in Venice was going to the Biennale Architecture Exhibit.  It showcased hundreds of pavilions and architecture design- which Adriana and I found ourselves lost in! We loved it-- I have never been to anything remotely as cool as this! We ended the night with a gondola ride through the canals! The next day we took an early train to Florence and explored the city Sunday and Monday! HINT: Museums and churches are FREE every first Sunday of the month, so Adriana and I got into the Uffitsi, Accademia, and the Basilica for FREE which was such a great surprise.  We saw Mr. David, which was nothing short of amazing, and we climbed the Duomo.  We also made a hefty stop at the leather market for gifts for friends and ourselves.  We made it home to Rome Monday night at 9 pm and were exhausted from the busy weekend.  It was well worth it though! Another great weekend of memories for the books! Thank you Italia!
