This Week's Highlights: 4th of July, Pisa, & Flourence

This week, we celebrated being Americans. On Thursday was the 4th of July so we took a break from working like crazy on our studio projects and our piazza studies and instead got together at one of the apartments to enjoy some "American" music while eating burgers, hotdogs, and drinking some beer. I had a ton of fun, just goofing around and eating food that reminds us of home. We even had a wonderful chocolate cake with candles, strawberries, and whip cream to look like an American flag.

This weekend a bunch of us decided to leave town and go traveling. Our first stop was to Pisa, Italy. This is a very cute, small town and we sadly did not have a ton of time to spend exploring, but we of course went to visit the Leaning Tower. Here we had a giant photo shoot doing all sorts of crazy and random poses. We were laughing so hard the entire time, so much so that it made it difficult for the person taking the photos at the time to be able to direct us into the "correct" position with the tower behind us. I am so glad that I took the time to visit Pisa, and I would definately recommend it to anyone else that gets the chance to go here! From Pisa, Clay and I then broke away from the rest of the group to travel back to Flourence. Here we had a very relaxing two days where my favorite spot was when we visited the Duomo. It is so different on the inside than the outside, that we were both very suprised. It was also refreshing to not have to pay to get inside such a famous and popular building. We did however opt to pay to climb up to the top, which was super steep but the views were well worth it! It was also amazing to be able to walk inbetween the inner and the outer domes that construct the dome. While in Flourence we did a lot of exploring without any particular destination in mind, which was a very nice change of pace that was much more relaxing yet we still saw a ton of the city.
