Weekend Field Trip

This last weekends field trip to Spoleto, Assisi, and Perugia was an awesome one. We started with Spoleto. We took a quick tour around the city, viewing the more important sites of the city in a group. The group then split apart and everyone went and explored the city. The majority of my time was spent at the Duomo, wondering through it with amazement. One of the more interesting features of the Duomo was a hand written letter from St. Francis of Assisi to one of his friends/ followers. We spent a few hours exploring Spoleto then headed to the train station to catch a train to Perugia.

Perugia was another interesting city. When we arrived, the first order of business was an orientation tour of the city. My favorite part was by far the cities underground. You really get a good idea of how the city grew over time and what its foundations consist of. After our tour it was off to dinner, where a small group of us grabbed a plate of pasta at a restaurant along Perugia's main streets. We sat, ate, talked and watched the world cup for a few hours before exploring the city some more. We found a nice spot with a great view of the city and spent the rest of the night hanging out there, talking and enjoying our time off.
The next day, we were off to Assisi. It was a pretty short train ride. When we arrived, it was another quick orientation tour and then we were off on our own to explore. Assisi was awesome and by far my favorite out of the three cities. It was a pretty small town, but it had so much to offer. We spent our first night up on the hill, over looking the city and watching the sun set. The next day was more exploring and sketching followed by a dinner on a terrace over looking the valley and yet another sunset.
