Daytrip from Rome

This last weekend we found ourselves again in Rome, and decided to make the best of our hardship. Our days were packed. Friday we hit up Villa Borghese, Santa Maria della Consczione and their bone-covered crypts, Villa Torlonia (Mussolini's old stomping grounds), Santa Constanza, Santa Maria degli Angeli and the Baths of Diocletian. My buddy Jesse came in from Florence friday night and we all met up for appetivos and hooka on Friday and Saturday night in Trastevere.

The street performers were on hiatus or something because the bums had taken over for the night. They had comadeered fire dancing equipment from somewhere and were throwing flames like they owned Piazza Santa Maria. All of a sudden, one of the bums (fairly intoxicated) bumped into another one and before you knew it a beer bottle was broken open and they were dueling it out. Crazy! Under normal circumstances you know that when a bottle is broken you get the hell out of there. But here the crowd thickened for the real performance of the night. It was a bit rediculous. It ended with them brawling throughout the square, ruining any chance the rest of the clan had of performing for any money that night, and people spliting off after they got bored. Real street entertainment!

The next day was Tivoli with a good group of us. Dianne joined us as well. Villa D'Este is tough- words can hardly explain. Its regal elegance found me imagining myself throwing a huge party there like the Count of Monte Cristo and pondering how much it would be to rent out for a party. Tough life the Este family had!
We discovered that Villa D'Este is a set for modeling. A girl and her friend had a photo shoot on the fountain edge with exotic poses that merited some comical remarks. So of course Travis and I had to rise to the occasion. So we worked it as best we could... she didn't think it was too funny.
