Atrani
Wow. What a breathtaking place. All the descriptions and pictures in the world can't appropriately convey the beauty of this place. The quaint little town of Atrani creeps up into the steep sea-side cliffs, utterly defying gravity. It's very different than the city in that it completely contrasts the glitz and grandeur of Rome - people move slower, there are no massive monuments defining the skyline, and instead of tourists, the streets are lined with the working class of Italy.
Our adventure started, bright and early, Friday morning. We caught the train at Termnini Station and the group rattled with excitement as found our seats. We made a stop in Paestum where we walked, sketched and marveled at some of the best preserve Greek temples in the world - Hera I and Hera II. After that, we made our way to Atrani - Oh man. We caught a bus out to Atrani, which was an experiend all in itself. Crammed in a bus, we made our way through some of the smallest and windiest roads I have ever seen. Luckly, no one got sick, but if we would have riddent the bus any longer than an hour, that might not have been the case. We made it to Atrani after a long day of travel and it was the perfect ending to our long day.
We were set free for the weekend to explore and experience the sea-side town as we pleased. Some at on the beach, some explored high into the cliffs and some meandered throug the nearby sea-side towns. Overall, everyone got exactly what they wanted out of the trip. Our group became closer and bonded over aswesome dinners, karaoke and nightime swims. What an amazing trip - once in a liftime opportunity. No one wanted to come home, but then "home" is Rome, so I guess we can't complain THAT much!
