Pentecost Sunday

Acts 2:1 - 4 "On the day of Pentecost all the Lord’s followers were together in one place. 2Suddenly there was a noise from heaven like the sound of a mighty wind! It filled the house where they were meeting. 3Then they saw what looked like fiery tongues moving in all directions, and a tongue came and settled on each person there. 4The Holy Spirit took control of everyone, and they began speaking whatever languages the Spirit let them speak." NLT

The day of Pentecost was celebrated in oh such a way that gives a new meaning to the fiery tongues falling down on us. With the Catholic Mass being held in the Pantheon, this particular event was a wonderful sight to see. The majority of the message was spoken in Italian, but the overall experience of being in this marvelous architectural wonder for such an event is utterly priceless. During the service there were many references to the historical events of fiery tongues falling on followers of Christ and as the service concluded the local fire department members, who had made their way up the 142ft. rotunda to the 27ft. wide oculus at the top, began to dump red rose petals from above, as a metaphoric event of fiery tongues falling down on us. The sight was more than just inspiring, the hope now is to learn more and to truly have the Lord’s Spirit fall on myself and all other followers of Christ in not just a metaphoric way. This individual day may have been worth the plane ticket here in of itself.
