After a month and a half of traveling I have witnessed a variety of foods.
For the most part it is all pasta and breads, but as we began to venture outside of Italy we have had some interesting encounters. Starting in Germany we were introduced to some auflauf. It was a huge dish of meat, noodles, potatoes, and creamy based sauce.
The next weekend we had a taste of real seafood. Ordering paella in Barcelona gave us all a surprise of what creatures we would find on our plates and what tastes they would provide.

On our group field trip to Amalfi, a few of us took a boat out to the island of Capri where we strolled upon some of the biggest lemons we had ever seen.
On our walk up to Ravello we actually were given one of these giant lemons by the cutest old man right out of his vineyard. I brought it back to Rome to enjoy it. Sadly it still tasted like an ordinary little lemon...

The area is popular for their original pesto, so every meal had a little accent of it. We gave the specialty a taste by ordering a pesto lasagna and a pesto pasta with it's own specially designed noodles to retain the sauce. Both of which were delicious!
Finding our way back to Rome, it's not difficult to distinguish where the food is from in this area...
