Finish Line

100 Kilometers… I have finally completed what I set out to do from the beginning of the summer semester. Running to all 13 free standing Obelisks was a great experience and entertaining way to see the city of Rome early in the morning before the masses of tourists have flooded all the sites throughout town. Averaging just around 7 kilometers per run it was a great opportunity for exercise and also an interesting way to see the city. The different sites and important buildings along the routes were great to see in passing and some of the final destinations had great importance to the piazzas themselves. Take for example running to St. Peter’s Square at 6a.m. when only a total of maybe 10 other people were out in the piazza. As a class when we went to visit the site there were well over 500 people in the square and even more waiting in line to enter the basilica. The diagram above attempts to color coordinate the paths of where runs took place and the obelisk is meant to be marked also. Coming to the end of the summer session it feels like I’m standing on the finish line with some experiences already accomplished and others finishing in a matter of days. Ciao Roma!!

it's an interesting "reading key" of the city.
Bravo.
