Well this is the first blog that i have created, i've sat down a few times but nothing ever comes to mind the way i want. So today i just sat down and forced whatever info i could from my brain.
so lifes been good just got back from Florence, Pisa, Lucca, and Siena yesterday, it was a busy couple days but quite a bit of fun, we stayed in Florence, its a pretty cool town, its funny how different these towns are from rome but still maintain their similarities, Lucca was by far my favorite, it is an old mid-evil town which still has a huge outer wall built around it, which was awesome, they have since turned that wall into a parkin which you can walk around. The wall ensured a enormous feeling of secruity once you were inside the city itself, its a weird feeling because once inside the town you really can't see the wall but you can feel the presence somewhere at an unconscious level. the town has expanded beyond the walls but the core of the city is still within the 2 1/2 mile radius of the city walls. Pisa was alright I felt that we didn't have a lot of time there but i will say the town is not scared to nickel and dime the heck out of you, which sucks but hey thats life. Florence was similar in fashion to pisa in a nickel and dime sort of way, but i liked it as a city more than Pisa, even though i felt there was more to see in Pisa then i did, but when we left i was ready. The hustle and bustle of these cities/towns doesn't even come close to that of Romes, even though Florence has a huge market where you can buy almost anything out of Leather, even though I didnt' see any leather underwear im sure i could have found it if i looked hard enough. the last day in Florence we went to the Duomo and climbed Brunelleschi dome a whole 463 stairs, (which i don't know if they mean that as a total or as just one-way), it was worth it, the view was awesome, especially getting that high inside the dome and being close to the painting which is a representation of the Last Judgemen (it looked amazing). We then jumped over to the San lorenzo library which was done my michangelo, it was realy good to see i would have been dispointed if i had not seen it. i was really interested in the books that they had in the museum, the illustrations looked really cool. we then went to Siena for the rest of the day, which was cool because it was a smaller city so it was easy to navigate through it, while i will say i was burnt out of walking around about half-way into the city. The Duomo there was also quite fasicnating since it was supposed to be the biggest Cathedral ever built but with a combination of them running out of money and the black plague it was never completed. The other really cool thing about Siena is that every year they have a big horse race in the Piazza Del Campo, the race is composed of 17 riders who represent the 17 divisions of the city. This race is called the Pallo di Siena
