St. Peters- Top to Bottom

So far we've been in Rome for seven weeks, every chance I get I look over the city's roof tops and the dome that stands out the most is Saint Peters. It was only a few days ago that we went to see the inside as a group, what a good idea that was. I've been in the portico many times before that and as amazing that seems the best has yet to come.

We made it through the line easy enough and so it began. The height of the interior is amazing and then you look to the end of the church toward the apse and all of a sudden the space becomes monumental. The statues and paintings are as beautiful as you would expect.

The amount of sunlight that is let in is just another pleasure that adds to the experience, the best is the stupid sunflower that the tour group leader likes to show everyone.

After a tour around the interior we head to the top for the best view in Rome. Is all it will take is a few stairs.

A few more.

This is great but we want to see the top.
Some more stairs.A little ways up the tilted hallways.
It was worth it.
Success!!!
